Good Morning Mrs Gosal,
So nice to hear from you and I am glad you were able to find Derek's email address and get in touch with us. Of course we remember you. I hope you and your family are doing well.
Your note was so nice to receive on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. I am glad to hear that you, your family and the school are still thinking about us and taking the time to learn about Indigenous people's history and to honour residential school survivors through education. The work that you and your colleagues do and the safe and secure environment you provide to the diverse group of students at North Star is something you should all be proud of. Our family always felt supported and safe at your school and truly enjoyed our time with you all.
During the height of Covid, we decided to move back home and now live in my home community where I was raised called Nipissing First Nation. We are just outside of North Bay Ontario and about 3.5hours north of Toronto. Hayden and Nora are happy and healthy. They love living in the community surrounded by family, community and their culture. They both play hockey and love the outdoors. We spend a lot of time fishing, hunting and watching them play hockey. Derek and I are doing well. I am working for a Nipissing First Nation owned business focused on economic development the in the electricity and utility space. Trying to make a contribution to economic reconciliation here in my community.
I do come to Toronto often for work so perhaps I will stop in sometime and say hello. I will give you a heads up first.
Miigwech (thank you) for taking the time reach out and share your kind words, it really made my day.
Take Good Care
Christine
